The Latin American Student Organization is a student-led community at SMC. We celebrate Hispanic and Latin American cultures, build friendships, and create opportunities to lead and get involved.
You do not have to be Latino or speak Spanish to join. Bring your interests, your ideas, and your culture.

SMC senior Luna Orozco earned first place at the APEX Showcase for her Capstone project, El Festival de Culturas, a celebration of culture, community, and connection at SMC.

LASO (Latin American Student Organization) is a student-led organization at Spartanburg Methodist College that celebrates Hispanic and Latin American cultures while creating opportunities for leadership, service, friendship, and community. LASO welcomes students from all backgrounds and works to foster belonging, cultural awareness, and meaningful campus involvement.
LASO is open to all Spartanburg Methodist College students regardless of background, nationality, or language experience.
LASO hosts cultural, educational, social, leadership, and community-building events throughout the academic year. Past events include Noche de Juegos, Arts & Craft Night, Noche de Vaqueros, Soccer Tennis Tournament, Skull Decoration Fiesta, Trivia Night: Latin Countries Edition, Love for Our Latinos, Hablemos de Finanzas, Taquiza, and El Festival de Culturas. These events help students build friendships, celebrate culture, develop leadership skills, and strengthen connections across the Spartanburg Methodist College community.
